I have a 2001 50hp 2-stroke that has 2 burned connectors and am wondering why. The yellow wire connector coming out of the stator is melted and one of the red wires at the connector coming out of the rectifier is melted. By the way, this motor does not run good at all at low rpms and wondering if it could have anything to do with it. I did by pass the connector on the rectifier and hard wired it but it didn't help any if fact the engine ran better with it unplugged. Any ideas? Thanks

More than likely your rectifier is shorted to ground. I am sure some of the more knowledgable folks on this forum will chime in but i think you might need to test your stator to make sure it didn't get toasted because of the rectifier
