here we go again, i have an 89.. i had it running great in the tank the last couple days fires right up, before leaving to take a test ride i started it in the tank for one last run and to warm up before hitting the ramp, it ran for 5 min or less and shut off, restarts only for a second and sometimes wont fire, i have perfect spark on both, fuel system is good (full tank) and fuel filters ar clean, the carbs are getting fuel just fine, any ideas?

Water in the fuel tank? Maybe it ran just long enough to suck it in and die.

that was my thought, i cleaned out the carb and had it running good again (it had a spark knock occasionally before) took it for a ride, ran wot for about 2 miles and she died out, the batts. were to low to restart and even with a jump it wouldnt start, towed in, put it right in the test tank fired up with no problems for a couple min and died, back to the spark knock and rough idle, runs a little better with the choke on .

it was def water in fuel. upon installing a 10 micron seporator i did a clear and bright and had a cup of 1/2 water 1/2 fuel, so bad it was going through new filter, suck about 5 gallons out of the tank and got good fuel, runs great.. im assuming the cause is the fuel i got, considering it ran great until i filled the tank, what can i add to the fuel to help this from happening again.. (i use 10% ethanol, not by choice!)
