The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
My 1979 johnson seahorse 4 hp say's the oil ratio is 50:1 I am new to this mixing stuff. the can say's that one can of oil to one gallon of gas is 16:1 does this mean I mix three of these cans to one gallon of gas? to equal 50:1.
16 oz of 50-1 oil to 6 gal of oil is a 50-1 mix.
Or 2.66 oz's of oil to 1 gal of gas.(the can says
3oz's of oil per gal)
A qt of oil to 6gal is a 25-1 mix.
...have fun...corm
do the math . the reason I gave it to you in 1 pint oil to 6.25 gal is that to my knowledge the smallest amount you can buy of a good tcw-3 oil is 1 pint. Most people mix at least 6.25 gallons. you can mix smaller amount but be cautious of your ratios before firing off.1 pint oil divided by 6.25 is the amount to mix in 1 gal of gas
I've been a Marine Dealer since 1954. How about the rest of you? My 1st post is on page 247.
Most every bottle of oil say 3 oz's to 1 gal of
gas. This is a little rich, I use 2.5 oz's of oil to 1 Gal of gas on my toys. This is slightly lean
but works fine as I am usually trolling most of the time. I am done with this thread.
...have fun...
corm
I'm not a marine dealer .I cut my teeth on big diesels for five years aboard ship then migrated to turbines and boiler feed pumps at municipal power stations.Did that for 18 years and took my early out.the only reason i see in my case for being anal about oil to fuel ratio is that between boating trips I rarely use all of my fuel in a 15 gal tank. If I subsequently keep adding a slightly oil rich mix up on top of another who knows what it is after 8 or 9 episodes.gas at 1.40 per gallon gets expensive to discard leftover each time to remix
Thanks Ya'll, I put 3oz of oil to 1 gallon of gas, it might be a little rich but i would rather have too much than not enough. It's idoling right now.and seem to be doing fine. Thanks a bunch fellas.
no4njnk
