I have a 1985 115hp merc 6cyl.The top cylinder isn't working.It kicks in for a few seconds,then out.The bulb on the gas line won't stay hard (new one) The trouble started when I ran the main gas tank down to about nothing.A friend told me the top cly. wasn't firing.I think it might be in the gas line.WHAT DO YOU SAY?THANK YOU.

check compression on all cyl......if good check carb and fuel system

6 CYLINDER WITH ADI IGNITION?CAN BE CAUSEBY THE OPPOSITE SWITCH BOX (PACK),DISCONNECT THE WHITE/BLACK JUMPER BETWEEN THE PACKS AND RETEST IF DEAD CYLINDER START FIREING;REPLACE THE PACK THAT WAS FIREING ALL THREE CYLINDERS,THE ABOVE FROM MERCURY TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE.I HAVE MORE ON THIS SUBJECT; IF YOU LIKE CAN E MAIL THE REST
