Ready to winterize my boat, bikes, lawn mower weedwacker...everything.Had an issue with clogged carb last year and needed a rebuild. So going to remove ethanol this year, seems simple enough...Will water containers work, need something see through and they seem to fit the bill.

Basically will they melt will gas in them for 2 days at the most is the question? Zero ethanol free gas near me

I read and reread your thread and honestly I don't know what you are wanting or talking about. You are draining the fuel out of all your engines for winter time, but want water containers to drain the fuel into because you can see through them...I think? :noidea: But I don't know why?

Out of curiosity, why do you need see thru containers? Do you think the gas will turn to water?

I think he intends to DIY ethanol free the gas in the jugs so he can monitor the seperation.....

Dont know what 5gal water bottles at my local stores is made out of, and no idea what they are in the OPs area OR if either will stand up to gas, for 2days or even an hour......

Good luck and I wouldnt bother w the DIY ethanol free. Dont put E-free gas in any of my cars, yard equipment or OBs and havent had any ethanol related problems w any of them.

The OBs are all older then 40yrs w nothing special done to run the ethanol thru them.

Whats the plan for the ethanol after you seperate it?

My apologies,
I had something in my head and didn't translate it.
I want to remove ethanol from my gas BEFORE adding it to any gas tank.It seems adding water to ethanol gas and letting it sit separates the ethanol from the gas. The water bonds to the ethanol and sinks to the bottom.Draining that out leaves me with ethanol free gas.I need a clear container to see the water/ethanol mix on the bottom of the container so I know when to stop draining and start adding to the tank.

This must be the thread of the year......LOL. Using any type of container that is being suggested is silly, dangerous and most of all against the law. Just read the signs posted at your local gas station.

Ethanol gas is a natural sovent that helps keep fuel systems clean. Back in the day (before E10) adding a can of alcohol to the gas tank for Winter use was recommended. E10 has put the "Dry Gas" business out of business.

Your issue was not E10 related.

It takes about 14 days for ethanol to phase separate.

I suggest simply buying e-0

jbcurt00,I had issues with both my boat and my bike needing carb rebuilds in the same year AFTER using seafoam an marine stabil. It got the best of me a bit and seems like a simple security procedure to clear my gas of ethanol. I read burning the ethanol creates nothing but CO2 and water?? Totally environmentally safe.

Sorry, Jonny, Rotten idea. Dumping water in the gas to make E0 is not good. The resultant sludge is not flammable.

How much gas do you want to treat?

Jims123, Your kidding right?
Ethanol gums up and causes nothing but headaches
I take it you use ethanol free gas for long storage or you would know better before the dumb ass comments. You must be the most law abiding citizen in the country not to come up with a TEMPOARY solution to a problem.
