Can I replace the original 2 piece impeller body with the Sierra 1 piece design? My impeller was in pieces when I removed the pump and opened the case. Will it be obvious which way to bend the vanes when I replace?

You should be able to use the newer single piece housing design.

Make sure you disconnect the raw water line from the pump to the oil and power steering cooler (if down stream from the pump) so you can visually ensure that you remove all the debris from that pump failure and any previous pump failures. Otherwise you may have blockage in the raw water circuit from that debris. It will cause an overheat if there's enough in the oil cooler.

No it will not be obvious. And it doesn't really matter. If you have your belt tightened properly, it'll flop the vanes over as soon as you hit the starter on the engine. But if you want to help it, as you you are trying to push the impeller (which will be on the shaft) into the housing, place the housing carefully in a vice (or clamped tightly between your legs), and turn the pulley on the pump clockwise. They are not hard to get in, if you can hold the housing.
HT is right on, backflush the system and make sure you get all the old blades.

Thanks to all for your help. I found all the fragments and the job was easy to do. I'm lucky I have a lot of room in the engine compartment.
