What is a 5.7gpi ? Never heard of that model. A Mercruiser serial number would work better.

i dont know where i came up with gpi i ment gsi found a tag on motor 5.7gsi pefs 4012019798 3869059 transon assembly tsk skm 411164558 386884 drive unit skm-m 1.51 4202006155 3868890 and the tag one the lower unit drive 3868164 dp-s 1.95 serial #4112034317.another other info about these numbers would be helpful thank you don you are allways helpful thank you

I don't know if Volvo used the same setup as automotive. But I can tell you that there is a very good chance that your problem may not even set a code. I seldom found the problem that actually set a code on those older setups.
If you just want to check for codes, and put in base timeing mode, try the Codemate http://www.rinda.com/marine/marine.htm#merctool, but the scan tool just above it will tell you EVERYthing.

What sort of problems are you having.

The motor seems to load up when quick on the throttle aand idles a little ruff and dont seem to have as much power as i would have expected,have not it it running rite since i got the boat a month or so ago have changed the plugs and done a tune up it with no change
