Looking at an older Sea Ray 1984 cuddy 210 srv. Dealer states previous own had engine replaced with a 6.2 liter, the engine appears to be carbureted, im curious as Ive read tge 6.2 is a late model with fuel injection, I figure the 6.2 just has all the 5.7 stuff on it and how much more power it may have.

A 6.2 is the marine version of the old hot rodders stroked 5.7 So they can be carbed or mpi. If correctly set up would be around 340 hp With a significant increase in torque. Would need to see the combo. You can look on sites like michigan motorz or marine engines for less that sell partial engine packages. the one I got from michigan motorz had a new long block, intake, carb, igntion, fuel pump, flywheel and tin ware

you may be confusing these older GM based 6.2 with the newer 6.2 that merc casts their own engines of. These indeed are fuel injected only and not based on any automotive or truck engine

Look on the bright side if it is as represented that is a nice upgrade. Hit rodders used to take a longer stroke crank out of a sbc 400 and drop it into a 350 block. Took slight clearancing of the block to clear the rods, eventually GM started making them and it was adopted into marine use. 2015 or so GM stopped making them, merc made their own engines 4.5 l V6 to replace the GM 4.3 and 6.2 to replace the 5.7 and 6.2/377/383 . these are different engines made by merc and only available through merc. This sucks as the days of going to the wrecking yard getting a 4.3 or 5.7 out of a truck and dropping it in a boat are over.

When I did my repower in 2015 I think a new base engine ina 5.0 or 5.7 was about $3400 plus freight . 383/6.2 was like another grand. my partial 5.0 engine including exhaust manifolds and elbows delivered was like $5 k.…
