I have twin 260 hp 1988 5.7s that have not been run in awhile and one of them sat with a head off for awhile. With them not being blown up,and not knowing the history of the motors.Should i pull the motors and take them to a marine rebuilder?Or just buy long blocks.Having these engines rebuilt should be cheaper than buying long blocks unless they need more work than i am exspecting.

You just answered your own question, until the engines are pulled a part an inspected, you can't make a decision on rebuild or purchase.

Pull em', get a rebuild estimate and go from there. Either way, grease up the Visa card.
