5.7 OSXI-DF Oil pan rusted through

The oil pan rusted through around the oil drain/dipstick fitting. The original pan appeared to have a protective coating of some kind. My question is what should I coat the pan with to prevent this from happening again. Do I use undercoating spray of some kind and how do I better protect the area around the drain fitting?

Anyone's experience would be appreciated.
