5.7 Mercruiser Slave Solenoid - Replace after 1 season?

Last spring I replaced the slave solenoid on my 2001 5.7 Mercruiser, as the engine wouldn't crank unless I arched the solenoid posts. After replacement with Sierra part 18-5816 the engine started with key all of last summer.

Here I am again attempting to get the boat ready for summer and the engine won't crank with key again. Full battery and again if I arch the solenoid posts the engine cranks and starts.

Did I get a bad replacement solenoid, is this normal to replace the solenoid after 1 year, or is this symptomatic of a larger problem?

But look at how much you saved by buying the cheaper aftermarket stuff than the OEM part.

I'd do the diligence of checking if the electrical values to that solenoid are right. If it quit that soon you might only have fixed the symptom last time.
Get yourself the book and find out what you should be getting for amps & volts etc, also make sure you have great grounds wherever they even come near that piece.
