5.7 GXi-E High Idle Issue - All of a Sudden

I ran the boat for the 1st time last weekend and the boat ran great for the first 2hr outing. The next day we ran up the lake for about an hour and when we got there and slowed the boat wouldn’t settle down below 1300-1400 RPM and there was a noticeable sucking noise coming from the throttle body. I turned the boat around and immediately went back home. The boat ran fine on the way home on the high end, but the idle is so high that I just turned it off near the dock and pulled it into the slip with a rope, as I didn’t want to slam it in and out of gear at such a high RPM.

I checked all the hoses for an air leak, and quickly traced the problem to the IAC as the boat settled down to normal RPM when I put my finger over the air channel leading to the IAC. I immediately replaced the IAC thinking this was an easy fix, but to my dismay and $320 later, it made no difference. The IAC is opening all the way upon start-up. I set the IAC in the closed position (yes manually, yes I know this is ill-advised, but I was careful, and wanted to know if it was working). So I started the boat, and it idled normal for a second and then watched as the IAC plunger retreated and the RPM ramped up.
So I know what is happening, but I don’t know the reason…if it’s an ECM/ECU issue/signal, why it would have happened so suddenly? What could have changed in the hour from when we took off and the boat idled fine, to when we slowed to dock an hour later?
Has anyone else experienced this issue with the 5.7 GXi? If so, what was the solution? I have read a few similar posts on random forums, with no follow up as to the solution.

I posted a video of the noise, but that’s the symptom, not the problem.

I have the 5.7 GXi-E

Thank you in advance!

TPS (throttle position sensor) might be something to check. Also see if you can get the GM equivalent parts to save yourself some $$$ vs. the V-P branded stuff.

Need a scanner to see what's happening
Agree, could take a voltage reading on where the TPS is at
