5.5 hp broken shift lever

Can anyone tell me how compatible shift levers are for a 5.5 johnson. I have a cd-21A with a broken shift lever , part number 378615. Do shift levers from earlier 5.5 johnson or evinrudes work as a replacement? When i look at the web site marineengine.com the other 5.5 johnsons have different part numbers. Let me know either with a response or call me at 320 six three four 4919. thanks

378615 is what I see also. It is the same in '65 and '63 when I check the parts manuals.

That style goes from 1954 and up. Newer ones may work, but the handle will be shaped different. I believe the same lever is also used on the 1954 and later Evinrude 7.5's and the 5hp Buccaneers too.
