Out of the distributor will vary while the motor is running because there is a make/break going on at RPM from the sensor. May show up as 9V or other
Thanks that makes sense. I think I need a diagram of how this is wired or a way to test the icm. Running out of ideas

Thanks for the info.

Thank you!! How does this ignition advance? Does the icm control advance? Anything else I should rule out?
This is the troubleshooting guide for TBV systems https://forums.iboats.com/threads/how-mercruiser-thunderbolt-ignition-systems-work.676476/

I would check the total ignition advance is getting around 28 or so degrees total at like 3000 rpm

What do you spark plugs look like that can help determine if it is fuel
Or spark

Since you replaced ignition components is your firing order correct

Just went to the boat. Found the new coil is shorting out… gonna put original back on as test. I’m thinking my maintenance created another issue..thoughts? While running coil positive to negative.6 v

Also noticed the even bank exhaust manifold is cool to touch. Left back is warm like 140 plus.

I’ll check the firing is correct and advance once I got out there again. Appreciate the info

Measuring + to - side of coil means nothing. The + side gets full time 12V and the - side keeps being switched to open then Ground to cause the spark
