Looking around at new 4-stroke motors in the 25 or 30HP range.

Who are the reigning champs of this new breed of outboard engines?

First let's look at the application you are looking for.If this is a repower from a two stroke 25 on a small boat then weight could be a factor. You will find any 4 stroke in that h.p. range to be decidedly heavier. If that is not a concern then your real task is shopping for a dealer in your area that has a good rep for customer service. Most manufactuers have been making 4 strokes in this h.p. range for awhile with Honda doing it the longest. With any deal that you make ,be certain to include a water separateing fuel filter.

I agree with Hondon, Peter. All of the 4 strokes in that range are excellent. You just need a good dealer.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

All my local stores sell a lot of Tohatsu/Nissan. West coast has a lot of Japanese based motors for sale.

Don't see a lot of suzuki's around though but they claim-to-faim with a chain driving engine instead of belt-driven... yet how often do belts give people headaches on new outboards....

Its a repower for a 2-stroke 25-40HP range. The guy dumped the boat and sold the 40 and put a 9.9 2-stroke on it.... its only a 8 footer so it should fly on 30HP even with 150lbs or motor.
