Can't seem to understand why the needle on my 4hp bj4breds doesnt thread onto anything? this seem right.

loosen the collar (packing nut) GENTLY screw the needle in the threads for it are further in. not sure of the setting but gently you will feel it seat.

Hi 175se

Even if I remove the collar nut I can't see any threads at all, there are no threads in the collar (packing nut).

The needle seats into the cork type packing material as in the picture (it is seated into the cork in picture) but have no threads!

Can the motor run with the needle removed, as for the moment only using it as a "get me home motor"

from your pic, remove the needle hold it on top of carb, look on top,see that little round plug with what looks like a bb in front of it, that's about how far that would screw in, the threads should be closer to that area, that's about all I can think of.

The threads are much further inside.----Turn it in untill it seats.---Back it out 2 turns for initial start-up.--------The brass nut only pushes on the packing material to jam the needle.----That is so it does not vibrate out of adjustment.

Hey

Thanks for all the help, pushed it in a little harder and it caught on the threads.

Can now go on my first fishing trip in Clew Bay this weekend.
