496 Mag Mercruiser

I have a 496 Mag Mercruiser. I have a steady alarm that will not go away. All fluid levels are fine and I already replaced the impeller. Even if I don't start the engine and just have the key in the 'on' position, I get the steady alarm. I know I get a 'test' alarm when key is first turned on, but this one does not go away. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!!!

Before we can even start to give you any ideas we need a tad more information than '496 Mag'... How about a serial number, the year (of the engine, NOT the boat), carbed or injected, stern drive or inboard.... And a bit of history wouldn't go astray...
