49-50 QD-11 High speed

Hello!

My QD-11 runs great...except that I can't get it to run fast enough. Haven't used a Tach, but I am guessing 2000 RPM top speed. How do I get the old girl up around 4000 like it should be?

Note, this is in pretty much original condition, still running pressure tank. Any help/hints will be greatly appreciated. I am running it on a 14' Jonboat, I believe that if I can get 'er running right I'll be able to plane across the fishing hole like a thrown skippin stone!

okay...no input so far, but thats fine.

I figured something out...2000 RPM is about 1/2 the top rpm for this motor, and my hearing is spot on, she's running about 2000 rpm because only one spark plug is working. I have pulled the flywheel and NEED to replace the coils.

Anyone know where I can get and what parts number will replace these dinosaurs?
