I recently took my boat out and the motor wouldn't start back up after running for a little while. I stopped to fish for about an hour and went to move, tried cranking the motor and it wouldn't start up. It cranked fine at dock and idled fine. Ran great the whole way out but had to be towed back in. Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do to remedy it? Thanks

Yeah, ignition components heat up and fail, cool down and operate again. (Take it you are cold-starting OK). Trick is to troubleshoot when having....trouble. Take an adjustable spark tester out with you, and heat up the motor on a test run. See if you can replicate problems, and check for spark. Another option for checking is to take a clamp-on timing device with you, and check that way without pulling plug wires -- old fashioned timing gun, or the self-powered type.

(Should post a year and model number.)

It's the only tag I found on the motor. It was spray painted by the previous owner and that's all I could find
