I HAve a 48 Evinrude SPL (model E48 ESLERD) that has tilt trim problems. Last week it worked but slowly, but this week it only hums (colder weather). Backed off the top reservoir screw and it has fluid, but it is milky or emulsified looking). The boat has been laid up for a couple of years and while it runs good, it is stiff. Will of course grease everything, but how to change the fluid and what kind to put in it? What to look for ?
Thanks,
Ben

Ben,
Make sure the Manual release screw is tight. It is in a recessed hole on the right side of the TNT unit.To change fluid, try to syphon out all the fluid you can from the fill hole using a hand pump or small drill pump. Refill with OMC TNT fluid or Dexron 2 fluid. See if it will move. If so, cycle it 4 or 5 times up and down, then refill as nessesary. If this does'nt work, you will need to tear it down to find out what's causing the problem.

Ben,

FYI, apparently you had triple posted. I deleted the first two. There were no responses to those posts. Please do not post the same question more than once, it confuses the readers and spreads out answers.

Just keeping the board as clean as possible. ;)
