For those of you who've offered advice on sleeving my 470 camshaft;
I've discovered the .375" sleeves were a nice fit after all.
I did have some trouble installing the sleeves however.
Putting them on the shaft was no trouble
-But I nicked/scratched the surface of one of them when I tried to remove the flange.
I decided to remove the sleeve and try polishing out the scratches (they were deep enough to catch my fingernail) with emery cloth (coarse then very fine)
rotating the sleeve back and forth to minimize creating a flat spot.
The instructions said to remove any burrs after installation;
This was (I hoped) no worse. Then I reinstalled the sleeve.
This is the outer one which I guess is good if there was a problem it would weep coolant rather than the rear cam seal leaking oil.
Fellas; what do you think?
Is it ok to have polished out the deep scratches the way I did?
Any of you have to get rid of burrs/scratches on these?
Were you successful? ie. no leaks?
