454 with Yamaha Drive

Hi all,

lookin at a 96 Mariah Z220 Talari. Has a 454 in it with Yamaha Sterdrive. Just wondering if the engine is a GM/ford with available parts. I know the Drive is a nightmare for parts... What would be involved for a merc/volvo conversion down the road?

Ayuh,... The motor is a GM long block....

Converting it would mean removin' EVERYTHING Yamaha, 'n replacin' it with Volvo, or Mercruiser...
That's ALL the Yamaha parts from the motors long block, to the prop...

Free would be Way Too Much to pay for that boat,...
The Conversion will cost Twice what the boat would be worth, After the swap....

I just joined up here... I also have a Yamaha L4 3.0L with matching outdrive... I am thinking of replacing the whole thing with something that will have the exact same hull profile... I'll do the swap myself, but I want the motor/outdrive to bolt up to whatever hole is in the hull... changing that would be a huge pain as mentioned above.

If you know of compatible motor combos... let me know. I would appreciate it. good luck with yours.
