I am in the process of buyiny a 1997 Crownline 225BR with a 1997 454 Merc/(250HP?)

I had a marine shop check the compression and they said no water in engine...good...and all 8 cylinders are at 145-150 compression.Does anyone know what this should be or have any other questions that I could ask the shop manager b-4 I buy?

Its right where it should be..

Have them check the oil in the drive for water also..

Do a sea trial.

Is this a freshwater boat? If not count on manafolds and risers.

mick , it's time for a new impeller ,but there is a new style one piece water pump hsg /kit costs around 80.00 have this installed .the impellers seem to have stuck to the original hsgings.the new hsg is made of a different plastic material.if this engine is carb,i think that the horsepower should be 300 and will run 60 to 62 mph stock.
