1. You will add about 600 pounds to the stern of the boat.

2. You will probably have to remove the manifolds (or worse, pull an engine) to change spark plugs and oil filter.

3. Doubling your horsepower may be too much jam for the transom and make the boat skittish (or even dangerous) in its handling.

Personally, I think it would be possible, but only in a wider boat. If maintenance is overly difficult, it tends not to be done...and prospective purchasers down the road know this.

No expert, here, but I'm sure you'd have to change the outdrives as well.

Offshoreboat, My neighbor has twin 454 Mercruiser/Alpha I drives in his 35' Scarab Super Sport. Sounds like the same setup. He has not had any difficulty with the big block/Alpha combination, other than spinning props, if he hits it too hard. It sounds like your SeaRay, with its small block motors could be adapted. (I will assume you have Alpha drives.) Can you easily adapt the motor mounts to fit the big blocks? You may want to check out the max HP capacity of your rig.

Offshoreboat, the big blocks are, as the name implies, a lot bigger than your V6s. They are physically very large engines. I've seen lots of 10' beam boats with small block V8s where the manifolds are about 2-3" apart. Not conducive to easy maintenance! And don't forget the extra weight, it may be an issue. Also, I doubt that the drives will take that kind of HP without modification.
