I overhaul my 454 to 492 and run well. Yesterday by error I overfill the engine little more than 2 quarts of oil.
When run the engine one breather pop out and start to leak oil from the dipstick tube. Leak a lot of oil.
Also have too much air pressure get out from the fill holes in the valve cover. I beelive thats why get oil out from the dipstick tube, because the pressure. I want to know what damage can occur to my engine caused from oil overfill.
Any help will be apreciated.

Remove the excess oil and try it.

The leak from the dipstick continues until the low pressure alarm sound. I replace the correct oil amount and the alarm sound in few minutes

Both engines was rebuilt. Have a break in period of 12 hours. Then run 10 more in two trips. The engine work perfectly until overfill with oil, then start the problems.

well, i think he's saying the problem started when he overfilled it but now even at the proper level, it's still puking out the dipstick tube and sounding the low pressure alarm. then he fills it back up and the process repeats itself.

i won't even come close to calling myself a boat expert but throughout my history drag racing the only thing i've seen cause that much crankcase pressure is broken pistons and/or piston rings.

to the OP, have you done a compression test, do you detect any misfiring?

Then don't overfill them!

Like Bond-o said, call the people that rebuilt the engine.

When the oil is overfilled, the crankshaft hits it, aerates the oil, the oil pressure drops, the lifters get soft because of the air and make noise and the engine doesn't run right.

Let the oil sit over night so all the air is out of it, then check the oil level with the engine level or the boat in the water. The oil level should be between the add and full mark on the dipstick.
To check it properly, remove the dipstick, wipe it off. Stick it back into the dipstick tube for a few seconds, remove and check the level. Look at both sides of the dipstick. They should be the same.

That make sense. I am planing to perform a compression test next weekend. No misfiring , the engine sound normal. Hope yo are wrong.

I rebuilt both engines. I have a repair shop since 1996. but never have this type of situation. the reason for the overfill was an incomplete oil change removal by my son.

Ayuh,.... gotcha,.... Let's see those compression test numbers,... We're all dyin' to know...
