454 efi mag fuel problems

Fired up the boat on the hose and the water running through the engine is comming out murky. Its full of raw gasoline. This thing must be dumping a ton of gas. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on? The motor is a Merc. 1994 454 EFI Mag.<br /> Thanks, Dave S.

Could be a lot of things. First thing to check would be the clear (yellowish) hoses that come from the mechanical fuel pump and top of the vapor seperator tank and go to the underside of the plenum near the throttle body.<br /><br />These hoses are to route excess fuel into the engine in the event of a diaphram failure. Gas moving through these clear hoses when the engine is running will enter the intake and flood out the engine.<br /><br />Dave
