I am putting a through hull in tommorrow and would like peoples opinion on whether to use 4200 or 5200 sealant. I obviously don't want a leak and probably won't ever need to remove a brass through hull fitting (on the bottom of the hull under the engine, just ahead of the engine) If I screw up for any reason 5200 might make things a bit difficult?

I would use the 5200. That is what I used on both of my bass boats and I changed every thru hull fitting on them.
I had to take one out and had no problem getting it out and non cleaning it up for reinstalling.
I haven't had one to leak yet either.

5200 will make it near impossible to remove without major coaxing...I don't understand why bubbakats came out easily because it hasn't worked that way for me. You really don't need the gluing properties of 5200 so why not use regular polysulfide? It is perfect for this application.

If you are not floating the boat right away, then use the 5200.Either one will never leak and if you do need to get it off there is a debonding agent that will let you take it apart in a snap.Charlie
