I have a Tohatsu non carbureted 40 TLDI that bogs down when accelerating. It cranks and idles, but sometimes the rpm goes up and down. The biggest issues is the power. I could sure use some help.
What is your actual model? Did this just start? How many CCA does your battery have? Did you reset the TPS initial value? How do the plugs look? The TLDI is pretty sophisticated, so if you want to work on it yourself, you need a Factory service manual (not the aftermarket ones) available from any Tohatsu dealer.
I have an MD40B, the plugs are new, New batt with 1000 CCA (the motor starts up fine), it acts like a fuel starvation problem or air. I was just wondering if you had ever encountered this. I am in Coastal MS and we have no dealers around.
Could be almost anything. Since you need to do this without a dealer, definitely get a Factory service manual, throw the motor in diag mode, and see what it tells you it thinks the problem is.
