Ive got a trailer that fit a 15' monark fiberglass boat pretty well and a honda 40hp with a tiller handle. I'm unsure of what kind of boat I should be looking at getting. I live in North eastern North Carolina and would user it for fishing 98%of the time in lakes ,rivers sounds &the bay on nice days .

I would like the following
Fit 4 adults
Decent size livewell
Capable of using a shade/sun top
Decent storage
Entertain a center console (unsure, depending on ability to convert ey tiller handle to steering cable)

I would also like to spend less than 4-5000

Id appreciate any advice, thank you.

You got a pretty big wish list there for that size boat. A 16' aluminum is your best bet but you will only want t go max 3 people fishing normally would want 2 though

Yes that's quite a wish list for a15 foot boat. A 16' boat may or may not fit that trailer. If you get a side council that will take up much space, 4 people are not going to fit comfortably in a 15/16 footer even with the tiller depending on your comfort level. Remember the more storage the less space. I would suggest aluminum for sure. A glass boat that size will be fine with a 40HP but it isn't going to fly like a 15' aluminum will with a 40. You don't see too many boats sold without a trailer and outboard if used. I don't know the price of taters your way, price a 15 foot utility boat new from a dealer and go from there. 4 to 5 K is a fair budget for a used aluminum without motor or trailer here but tough to find, they come as a package deal.

I would look for a 16' w/trailer, then sell your trailer. It will be much easier to find than a stand alone hull. Still won't be easy tho. Some people do pull the motors off if they re-powered and put it on their new hull..... As mentioned, look for a hull that's rated for a 40hp. You're going to want a lighter hull to move it decently with 4 adults.

Maybe something like this to get your storage which is under the casting platform and it has a rod locker. Although, this hull is rated for a 90. I have a 60 on it. 40 wouldn't work well at all.... It's a 16'.....

Heck, if you're willing to spend $5k, you may want to consider buying a complete rig and sell the trailer and motor...... Put those funds towards a rig too....
