40HP Honda On a Pontoon

I have a 40hp Honda on pontoon. When hasn't been run in 3-4 days, turn key to start, it won't. The rest of the boat powers up ok. I leave key in on position 3to 5 minutes and engine starts fine and will restart ok for multiple uses that day. What's up?

Speaking generically perhaps the neutral safety switch is loose or out of adjustment.
