40hp Evinrude WorkTwin identification

I acquired in trade a 40hp Evinrude WorkTwin, long shaft, with electric start. I am now trying to get the motor up and running (deer season is over) and I CANNOT locate a Serial#, stamped or plate. I believe it is 80's model but without some numbers I cannot get parts. Can photos of the motor be used to ID it or is there another way?<br /><br />Any help is appreciated.<br />John

Have you tried locating the aluminum freeze plug on the engine block? The #'s may be located there

I'll look on the plugs and see MCM. As for the photos, I do not see how I can post them on thei board. Can e-mail them if you like.
