I was out fishing today boat was running fine til I started to troll I diden;t go to far when I got an Alarm lasted for 40 to50 seconds then stop,I shut down the boat and started it again no problem I thought til I started to go it would only let me go 4 to 5 knots and if I went faster I would hear pop pop pop like it was misfireing??? Anybody I don't have a clue where to begin to look. Thank's for any help Art

over heat, blew head gasket,possible. what year and model #? check your compression and spark.

1990 Model# VE40ELESR When I got home I wash the boat down and flushed the engin no smoke at all except the normal amount. Thanks Art

Water was comming out of the pee tube when I was running it in the ocean also when I flushed it at home with the ear muff's on ?????

just because you have water out the tale tell, only indicates the pump is pumping, it does not indicate that the thermostats are opening and cooling the block. it is a normal maintenance thing to change the tstats on salt water motors, the salt eats them rather quickly, and they do not operate to open the flow of water thru the block.

How can I tell if the thermostata are not opening and what type of job is it to change them. thanks so much for your help Art
