does the lower unit move down at all? if not shaft is seized into crank shaft- - big problem-- did you disconnect shift shaft? if you did not this must be done first.
MECHTECH, This is the problem, The shaft moves up and down 2 inches. How do you disconnect shift on the one, My old 85hp all you had to do was remove a bolt.
wayne01
There will be a slotted screw on the right hand side(Starboard) of the leg, just above the cavitation plate that needs to be removed to drop the lower unit. It is the shift rod retaining screw.
Make sure the selector is in forward gear.
Look by the cable holdown there will be a pin clip. Remove this clip, and push in on the shaft you removed the pin from. This will disconnect the shift rod.
