40 hp Force with no numbers

I just bought my first boat, a 14' Starcraft, but it has a 40 HP Force outboard that has no identification numbers on it. How do I identify year and model without any serial numbers?

Welcome to iboats.

The best thing you could do, is post some photos of the motor.

Cover on, cover off close-ups of the fuel pump. and the ignition board. and the lower unit.

We should be able to get it narrowed down for you.

I also have a 40 hp Force motor with a partial serial number 019701 and am looking for info on my motor

40 1992-C & Serial: E000001 - E093699 1992-1994
