40 Evinrude throttle adjustment with controls

the throttle from my control box seems to work fine and move smoothly. as i increase the speed from the control box the throttle increases smoothly until it hits a certain point (probably about 8 knots) then it just takes off and the throttle cant be controled smoothly. it jumps from about 8 knots to like 15 knots with no inbetween. does anyone know how to adjust this so i can maintain that smooth throttle increase with the controls. thanks.

possibly check the link and sinc on the motor. if that doesn't cure it, just little bumps to the throttle handle.

Link & Sync comes to mind. However, are you sure that's not the time that it breaks into a plane? It's pretty hard to try to maintain any boat's speed between the time it is squatting in the hole and the time it levels off.
