40 Evin sluggish on open throttle

My engine seems to run fine at slow speed, but on full open throttle it feels as thought the fuel is not getting through. It is a 40 2 stroke oil ing. 1990. It feels as though I am trying to get through a brick wall. I have relpalced the plugs and the fuel filter. When using the flush kit. The motor sounds good using the choke. But when in the water. At the throttle fully open it just wont go. Trying to go, but feels like I am being pushed back. New at this any help would be great.... Thanks

i have a 40hp evinrune also,, i think the carb is dirty, needs taken apart & rebuilt,,soulds like when you try throtting up, it is starving for fuel.. take it in & get the carbs rebuilt or cleaned,,or try calling a boat repair shop,,see if they have some type of additive to mix with your fuel to clean the gumed up carbs,,tad

Hi Tad, thanks for your help. I will be taking it in to ask about the carburator like you said.I have tried everything else that I know how to do. Thanks again.
