I have a 1986 60HP Johnson.
Wanted to replace the VRO pump, but as the title says, i bought the wrong VRO pump. 5004558 instead of the 5004559
My engine has a 3 Wire connector en my new pump has the 4 wire connector.

I hope there is a way to convert it my self? (don't want to order a new pump, time, costs etc.)

Can anyone help me out on this one?

I don't remember the part number, but the 4 wire pump I replaced a 3 wire pump with on my 1986 40 hp came with instructions on how to make the conversion.
It's been 2 or 3 years since I did it, but it seems like it was pretty easy to do.
Maybe your dealer or possibly another member can supply you with the instructions.
I can check at the lake and see if I kept them, but I wouldn't be able to help you until Sunday evening when we get home.

Take it back to the dealer and ask to exchange it. If they won't then ask for one of the extra 4 wire harness connectors that comes with the correct kit, along with the instruction pamphlet. Mechanics always have those extra wires and booklets stuffed into drawers or laying on a shelf somewhere.

Well that is no option. I live in the a beautiful country call the Netherlands. (Thats why i need a boat, cause if the sea rises i'm 3 meters below it :D)

I ordered the pump on ebay in the US, cause of the huge price differences. At that time didn't know that a had a 3 wire (beginners learning). I have the engine service manual and i have Seloc Online. Seloc doesn't mention VRO upgrades.

So i was hoping to do it my self.
