A friend of mine has this 4 year oldie used as a water transport fom pier to vessel and vice versa at just at fast idle speed, it's rarely flushed with fresh water after use as lives moored to a pier. The motor runs with some hesittion when giving throttle, the employee in charge said that the upper spark when removed comes out wet, according to his tongue it's salt water ?

Assume that cooling salt water its making its way through the cylinder head gasket or exhaust cover as this motor has not gone through a gasket retorque to factory specs over the 4 years in use. Besides both gaskets what else should be checked for water intrusion into the cylinder ?

Thanks Paul,

What about the exhaust cover gaskets if the motor happens to have a exhaust cover ? If the motor is making oil could it be related to having water intrusion in the cylinder ?

There is indeed an exhaust cover. The telltale comes out of it. The gasket, if needed, is:
3R3023050MGASKET, EXHAUST COVER$6.85

Making oil would not cause salt to get into the cylinder.
