Just wondering how long you can leave a small 4 stroke motor on it's side? It's propper side I mean.

You can leave it there forever. It's not going to go anywhere. You don't actually ever have to touch it again.

Some of those small motors have a fuel shut off valve. I recommend you keep is closed whenever the motor is unused.

Leaving the valve open, with the fuel tank above the carb, allows the carb to be kept full of fuel, and as the gasoline evaporates, varnish and other stuff can build up clogging it.
