4 stroke transported on wrong side

We have a Honda 8Hp 4 stroke that was transported horizontally on the wrong side (the side opposite the tiller handle). It was running fine in the morning but after transporting it to a different location it ran poorly, with a loss of power, almost as if it ran on one cylinder. The head may have been lower than the prop as we went up some hills.
Any thoughts on what happened and what we can do to fix the problem?
thanx!

OK, local Honda service guy told me that I probably got oil in the cylinders. I need to pull the plugs, pull the starter cord a few times, spray some solvent into the cylinders (carb cleaner) and then pull the starter cord some more until the oil works its way out.

We performed the above procedure twice, running the motor between each series of cleanings with carb cleaner. Engine ran much better in a bucket of water after the second time. Lots of black oil in the water.

Will pull the carb and check that next...
