I have this motor and haven't had it Long. Going down the lake at wide open yesterday it was like the shaft was just spinig not turning the pro to push the boat, I idled it down and it seemed fine, try to open it up and at a little past half throttle same thing.a buddy of mine told me it was probably the clutch dog. Tour into it to have a look, the gears and clutch dog look new. Upon further inspection after putting everything back together I foun that in reverse I couldn't turn the pro in either way without resistance but in forward one way you can turn it by hand and turn the motor but by turning it the other direction it turns and makes a clicking sound. Is that normal?

Yes this is normal, but it sounds like your hub on the prop has failed. Mark the inner brass splined tube and the rubber around it and then run it under load and see if it moved from its original position. You may see bits of rubber where it broke loose. The bad news is that you can a new prop for what it costs to fix the old one.
