I have an '88 evinrude 4 hp deluxe. the kill switch is on the end of the tiller handle. It is just a little red button that the kill switch pulls out. Last Sunday, when we took it out, we just used a 3/8" open end wrench to hold it open. It was a perfect snug fit. Where would I find a more permanent one of those. All the switches that we have found, were the in dash type.

What you need is "Lanyard" part number 0398602. It incorporates the clip that holds the kill switch open.
You'll find it on the BRP parts diagrams

Vic is correct. Any John/Rude dealer probably has it, or can get it.

It won't b e cheap but it really is an essential (IMHO) safety feature.
