4 hp 4 stroke short to long shaft

I have a new Mercury 4hp. four stroke (2008) with a short shaft. I am using it as a kicker on my Tracker pro-guide 16. It works ok but would probably be better with a long shaft. Is it possible to convert this motor to a long shaft? Do they make an extension kit for it or would I need to get a whole new lower unit? Any information would be appreciated.

They don't have an extension kit to my knowledge. You would be much better off by replacing your short shaft motor with a long shaft motor.
