4.5hp Evinrude 1980 after rings replacement

hi.
i put new rings(standard) in my motor 4.5 Evinrude 1980. after rings replacement oiled cylinder inside.
motor run 2 hours, with water cooling(garden hose),lost compresion.start only with chocke out.
I decided to take apart powerhead once again.
inside cylinder bore i could see some smal scratches all around bouth cylinder bore
rings didnt break.
So whar did i wrong?

sounds as though theres a miss,check spark,the cold water could keep it running to cool,Is there a thermostat? I would get it in a barrel or the lake,make sure spark is strong on both holes and fine tune the carb.make sure the timing is on.
