Finally found a casting mark on rear of engine(big head in a little gap!!) and it is 4.3LG GM. Anyone hear of this one and know any of the specs on it(hp, etc)? I know they had the 4.3 GL but do they have both. I will crawl back into hole and make sure I did not transpose the letters today when I get up(working 12/8). STILL MUCH LOOKING BUT LITTLE FINDING!!

Dude,... This is your 3rd thread about the SAME topic....

What you found is Totally meaningless....
And,...
With ALL these threads goin' on,... I can't just scroll to the top to figure out What you've got...

If I remember right, you have a late model Volvo....
That said,...
You need a replacement motor(4.3l Chevy) of the Same Vintage...

If you need a motor at All, 'cause you Still haven't even disgnosed exactly what's wrong with the motor Still in the boat....

4.3L is 4.3 litres. "G" is for gasoline engine
The 4.3GL is a Volvo Penta model name, not a GM designation. Don't confuse the two.

The rest is as Bond-o says.

Re: 4.3lg Gm Engine??

The GL in Volvo (as in 4.3GL), means 4.3L engine, G= GM engine L= Limited output (Carbed).
This started the new numbering system in 94.

EDIT:
Smithgun, what you REALLY need to do is answer questions in your old posts other than start another post with some other unanswerable question.
from this thread http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=365517, you was asked for a serial number (By Me).

Obviously something on the engine says 430, why not go from there, and 4.3LG is not part of the numbering.
