4.3L Running Hot

I have a 1996 4.3L that is running hot. When I run the motor on the hose it runs fine. I can see the temperature hover around 160 to 165. As soon as I run on sea water the temoerature shoots up. I already replaced the thermostat and I put a new sea water impellar in last year. Could this be my circulation pump causing the problem?

Check the impeller first. It doesn't take much to damage one, and the impeller is the first thing you check on any marine engine overheat. Even if it was only a week old.
