I have recently purchased a project boat. On the tag from the side of the stern I found this information:

OMC Cobra
Model # 986698
Eng. 4.3L
Serial # T0739078

Can someone educate me on the year and any other information you have about this stern drive?

The hull is a 1991 Sunbird Corsair 185.

But this is not the same motor and stern that came with the hull.
