Where is the drain plug in the intake manifold on a 4.3 liter volvo?

Ayuh,...

The Intake manifold self drains into the Heads, which drain into the block, which you drain from the holes down by the oil pan rail.....

But, depending on the year abd model 4.3 you have, you may or may not have an intake manifold drain.

If you do have one, here is where it will be.

That's the 1st time I've ever seen an Intake manifold drain on a SBC.....

Thank You, ....I got hold of a Volvo manual yesterday...and it gave the info on the gl's, but didn't have the GXi-A......thanks again..........

You also never said what engine model you have. I just found ONE of the manuals that shows it. The GxiA may be newer than yours.

I came across some OMC (joint venture time period so it applies to Volvo too) tech service bulletins, and there was one about having to drain the intake manifold in late production 1996 and 1997 4.3s, a pipe plug was put in that section of the manifold. I don't know what they changed to make that necessary, but the pic in the bulletin I found is the same as what Don posted, so any owner of a 96 and up should be checking to see if they have that plug.
