Hey there, I’ve got a 2006 maxum 1800sr3 with a merc 4.3 tks in it. It’s been running well aside from intermittent beeping I seem to be getting fairly regularly while cruising around 3000rpm or higher, also happens sometimes when I’m bringing it up on plane.
The beeps will often be intermittent, as in 3 or 4 over a few seconds then nothing than a long beep. Usually I let off the throttle and the long beep immediately stops. I’ve checked the drive oil reservoir and even unplugged the two wires running from the bottom (my understanding is that these are the sensor wires from having read a few other threads with similar problems) and it seemed to make a difference but I would still get the occasional short beep in spite of this.
I plugged it back in and didn’t get any beeping on the way back, so I’m left scratching my head.
My temperature is running between 170-180 as per the gauge which is right in and around where it shows the “normal range”. I’ve read the ICM can cause issues too so my next step was to unplug it and clean up the contacts to see if that helps.
I was hoping for some input as far as other options I have to troubleshoot it outside of these things. I’m not sure where the thermostat switch would be to attempt to unplug that sensor wire and see if it is possibly overheating despite it not being obvious at the instrument panel.
Thanks in advance for any insight you can give!
