Hello
I have a tach that is possessed.
When I turn the ignition on, sometimes it climbs from 0 (if it was at zero to start with) to 1000 or so, without the engine being started.
When the engine is running, who knows what it will read - sometimes it shows what appears to be the right rpm and other times it is obviously wrong - like showing 2000 at a very low idle.
Today I shut the boat off and instead of going to zero, the needle went the other way to stop in the red zone.
Any ideas what I could check?
Also, if a new gauge is ultimately what's needed, how do I get something that's not only compatible as far as the gauge working, but also cosmetically, so it matches the other gauges in the dash (or am I asking too much for it to match?)
Lastly, is the mounting universal (like anything is universal?) as far as fitting in the dash?
Thanks for your help . . . Brian
